Last night in Southeast Saskatchewan many were out to take in the Northern Lights, including Mailyn Berer of Ogema. Coming from the Philippines, Mailyn was especially excited as this is only her second time viewing the beautiful spectacle.

Joined by family and friends, Mailyn was able to watch the dancing lights right outside her house in Ogema between 9 and 10 pm last night.

“I was so ecstatic when I first saw it, even now I’m still on a high, seeing it with my own eyes, it’s just stunning,” shared Berer.

Developing her Canadian roots, Mailyn is now a bonafide Saskatchewan Aurora Hunter. We asked her how she knew the Northern Lights were going to be making an appearance.

“I always tell my friends to download the app I’m using, especially during the winter season when it’s strong,” explained Berer. “There’s this Facebook group called Saskatchewan Aurora Hunters, I am a member of that group, and that’s where there are discussions about when it’s forecasted.”

The Northern Lights are expected to make another appearance tonight but visibility will depend on cloud coverage.
