'Pack the Back' will be back Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For a number of years the local EMS have parked an ambulance outside of the Wholesale Club in Weyburn, to collect food donations for the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank.

"For about four to five years, I'd say, minus the COVID year," explained Stephanie Schmidt, local Paramedic, and Member of Paramedics With Heart, the organization officially now in charge of the event.

"Our goal is to fill up the ambulance from top to bottom with non-perishable food items that they're looking for at this time of year," she said. "We usually have a list for people shopping that they can take, and pick up whatever they can for the Salvation Army, and then we take it that night to Salvation Army, and it all goes towards the community."

"We'd love to see everyone come out on December 15th to the Weyburn Wholesale Club," invited Schmidt. "Anything helps at all."

She said Paramedics with Heart will also be selling their calendars while there as well.

"They are just some of our EMS members every month giving little educational blurbs and they are $20.00 each and all that money will stay in Weyburn."

Schmidt said in other years they had filled two ambulances full to the brim.

"The first two years, it was two full ambulances full so we never did get a weight on it, but literally you couldn't open a door. We had to like quickly throw the last item in and shut the door. So it's been very successful."

Let's try and Pack the Back for the Weyburn Salvation Army Food Bank again this year, and make it a memorable one for Weyburn families.
