On Halloween night, the Weyburn Police Service did a bit of trick-or-treating of their own when they executed a search warrant at a residence on 417 Confederation Drive. The Weyburn Police Service received assistance from the Estevan Police Service with their Police Service Dog.

The warrant resulted in an adult female and adult male being taken into custody.

"Our criminal investigation unit did some research and some investigation which lead up to a search warrant for drugs," explained Police Chief, Jamie Blunden. "We brought in a dog from Estevan to do a search of the residence after the warrant was executed at the location on Confederation Drive."

The two who were taken into custody without incident received six charges after a small number of drugs and cash were found and seized.

"All the information and evidence that we gathered from that search warrant allowed us to lay the charge of trafficking. There are not just the drugs themselves, but all the paraphernalia. The score sheets, the scales, the phones," Blunden added. "Although we didn't seize a large amount of drugs, we did have all the evidence to lay the charge of trafficking. So it was a job well done by our members."

Both individuals are now facing charges of; Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, and Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
