The Saskatchewan RCMP are looking for assistance from the public after a possible abduction that took place Saturday night.

The incident was brought to the attention of the RCMP after the Regina Police Service received a call from a member of the public who received a concerning message from a friend via Facebook. The information was forwarded to the RCMP, who started an investigation and were able to identify a suspect and a suspect vehicle.

The suspect has been identified by the RCMP as 29-year-old Kelly Baht. He is described as 5’9” tall, weighing roughly 187 with a medium build, light brown hair and blue eyes. The woman is said to be Stephanie Bruch, a 30-year-old woman from Regina. The RCMP are concerned for the safety of the woman and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating her and the suspect.

A search of the area where the suspect was believed to be located was started with assistance from officers with the Melville, Wynyard, Fort Qu'Appelle and Punnichy RCMP detachments as well as the Saskatoon Police Service’s Air Support Unit.

Shortly after 3:30 Sunday afternoon, the suspect’s vehicle was located by the air unit abandoned in a field near Ituna, south of Highway 10. Neither the missing woman nor the suspect were located with the vehicle.

Roughly 20 minutes before the vehicle was seen, the Melville RCMP detachment received a call from a woman who was approached by a man outside her home as he was going through her vehicle. After a short conversation, the man got into an older light grey/white truck that was reported to have an ATV in the back. It is believed this was the suspect in the investigation.

The public is being asked to not approach Baht and to call 911 if he is seen. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Baht or Bruch is asked to call 911. Information can also be forwarded anonymously via Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
