Those interested in making and selling their own handmade art pieces of all types should consider registering for the Gifted Winter Art Market that is coming up on November 13, 2021.

The Weyburn Arts Council has been hosting this event for the past six years with this year making it the seventh market for the community.

"It will be happening from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Cugnet Centre here in Weyburn," shared Arts Curator with the City of Weyburn, Regan Lanning. "Artist registrations are available now and you can find them on the City of Weyburn website, on the Allie Griffin Arts Gallery Facebook page, or you can send an email to weyburnartscouncil@weyburn.ca and I will also have them posted on the Discover Weyburn Community Events page."

Lanning added that this year will look a little bit different due to the current provincial mandates.

"The space for our sale will be limited simply because we want to make sure that our booths can be a little bit further apart and our aisles can be a little bit wider so that we can all social distance and enjoy our shopping experience as safely as possible," stated Lanning. "So in order for us to present the very best of what Weyburn has to offer the applications will be evaluated to determine cohesiveness with the overall feel and vision of the event. So that just means that we're making sure that we have equal representation in terms of what's being offered. We only allow handmade works of art and craft so if you don't make it by yourself then you don't fit in with our event."

The due date for the artist registration forms will be on Friday, October 15, 2021, and successful applicants will receive an email with a confirmation by October 22 with further information and payment options for the seller fees.

The Weyburn Art's Council will be taking down the walking gallery on the south side of First Avenue North on October 2, 2021, and they are asking all of the artists with pieces that are currently hanging to remove them before that day.
