With the start of the school year comes all of the extracurricular activities in the community, including wrestling.

For the Weyburn Wrestling Club, this is the first season where things are "back to normal" after the pandemic.

"We're really excited," said Head Coach Mike Johnston. "There are no restrictions or anything like that this year. So we're just really excited to get back to regular practices and get back to regular tournaments and just have a really good season with the kids."

Johnston said they had strong registration numbers last year, and expect it to be just as good or better this year.

The programs are for boys and girls aged five to 17. Registration is open at weyburnwrestlingclub.com, and the season is set to start on October 11th, 2022 and runs until the end of March of 2023.

"That's not a deadline," Johnston said. "You can register right up until Christmas I believe is the cut-off time, so if you miss the first couple of weeks of the season because you're busy with something else and you want to start late, that's totally fine to do."

For anyone who is interested in the club but isn't sure if they want to join, a free clinic is taking place on Saturday, September 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 309 1st Avenue NW. Parents must accompany their child at the registration table. The clinic is for kids ages six to 12.
