$3.3 billion has been made available for producers with the newly introduced Emergency Livestock Advances program.

The program was introduced after the federal government stated Canada was in economic hardship with the cattle and hog industry.

The Director of Financial Guarantee Program with Agri-Food Canada, Sean Malone says there are two ways producers can apply for the emergency advances.

Malone says if your a cattle producer you can call 1-866-745-2256 and if your a hog producer, you can call 1-866-557-5452.

Malone adding the most amount of money a producer can receive is $400,000 based on their inventory.

The deadline to apply is March 31st, 2009.
