A search is underway for a missing teenager after an incident near Buffalo Pound Provincial Park Friday night.

The RCMP received a call around 5:30 p.m. Friday of a swimmer who was unaccounted for at Barney’s Beach. Police stated five teenagers were walking and swimming in the water when the winds and waves swept one of them out into the water.

The teenager was not immediately located.

The Moose Jaw RCMP, Moose Jaw Search and Rescue, STARS Air Ambulance and conservation officers attended the scene and participated in the search, which continues.

The public is being asked to avoid Barney’s Beach and to respect the directions from first responders in the area while the search continues.
