The second round of the Big Six playoffs is set to get underway Tuesday night after the quarterfinals wrapped up late last week.

The last two quarterfinal matchups had the Bienfait Coalers against the Carnduff Red Devils, and the Yellow Grass Wheat Kings taking on the Oxbow Huskies.

In the series between the Coalers and Red Devils, Bienfait would win two in a row after dropping the first game of the best-of-three. The third and deciding game was a 6-4 win Thursday night.

In the other quarterfinal, the Wheat Kings picked up a 2-1 win over the Huskies at home Friday night. The win moved Yellow Grass into the semifinals as they swept the opening round series.

The semifinals will see the Wheat Kings travelling down to Redvers Tuesday night for a match-up with the top-seeded Rockets in game one of the best-of-five series. The Wheat Kings will have their work cut out for them if they want to advance to the finals, however, as they dropped both regular season games by a combined score of 20-1 in favour of the Rockets. However, Yellow Grass was up against an opponent that had dominated them in the regular season in the first round as well and upset the Huskies to move on to the semifinals.

The Coalers have a date with the Moosomin Rangers. No dates have been set for those games as of yet. Moosomin won both of the regular season match-ups with the Coalers in the regular season by a combined score of 16-8. However, the Coalers are coming into the best-of-five semifinal series with the momentum of having knocked off the Red Devils in the opening round of the series.
