It’s the news farmers have been waiting for the Senate has finally passed Bill C49.

The transportation modernization bill has been bouncing back and forth between the house of commons and the Senate for weeks.

This after the house of commons sent the bill back to the Senate on Tuesday, rejecting the Senate's latest amendments.

The Senate passed the bill with a vote of 41 to 31 with 2 abstentions.

The bill is expected to hold the railways more accountable in an effort to prevent future grain backlogs.

Farmers were pushing to see the bill passed before the summer break.
