This year’s Father's Day weekend will be sure to delight, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions, Sooline Cruisers Show and Shine event is back. On Saturday, June 18 Third Street in downtown Weyburn will be decked out with hundreds of cars. The free event will begin at 11 am and run until 4 pm.

The two-year break is creating additional excitement for this year’s show, Trevor Sealy, president of the club shared that a lot of people have been working on their cars during the lockdowns and is expecting many new vehicles at the show with record attendance.

When the club was unable to gather due to COVID lockdowns, members developed new ways for the public to enjoy their rebuilt cars.

“We focused a lot on our cruising, every Thursday night we would meet at different restaurants just to get people together and get people out,” shared Sealy. “We would cruise past the hospital and nursing homes; it was really good to get the folks out, they just love it.”

The weekly Cruise Night is expected to begin this year on Thursday, May 12. The club enjoys supporting local businesses by meeting at different restaurants each night with each week bringing a new destination, venturing to places like Nickle Lake or Mainprize Park.

When asked what he enjoyed about the club Sealy shared, "I think the best thing is getting the younger generation interested in our hobby and helping young guys work on their cars, it doesn't have to be a show car it can be anything you're proud of."

"We've got vehicles from all makes and models and guys that are just in progress, I think it's just fun to build them, and build camaraderie," continued Sealy.

The Show and Shine event continues to provide a way for local non-profits to do some fundraising. This year is no exception, there will be vendors and concessions included in the event. Music will also be provided at the event, details to follow. Continuing to give back to the community, part of this year's proceeds will be donated to the Weyburn Humane Society.

Registration for this year’s show will take place just before the show at 10 am downstairs in the Vimy room at the Weyburn Legion, fee is $10.
