A special weather statement is in effect for southeastern Saskatchewan with snow and possible freezing rain fast approaching.

"For southeastern Saskatchewan, Weyburn may see accumulating snowfall this afternoon and overnight, whereas Estevan is forecast to stay as rain today, possibly transitioning to wet snow overnight," reads the statement from Environment and Climate Change Canada. "This evening and overnight, over southeastern Saskatchewan, there is also a risk of freezing rain developing."

Travel is not recommended on Highway 1 for the Moose Jaw and Regina area (stretching from near Chaplin east to the Indian Head area), as of late Sunday morning.
