The Grade 7 students at St. Michael School raised over $1,200 for the Weyburn Humane Society by holding a raffle.

This began when the class had an election as one of their projects.

Tori Fingler and one of her classmates won, and decided to have a school raffle to raise money for the Humane Society.

“Originally we were going to give it to different foundations,” Fingler said. “But then we decided that we all thought it would be a better idea to give it to the Humane Society since they had the flood that went on at their building.”

Fingler is thankful to all of the people that helped out and donated.

“It really makes me feel good that I can help others out in this way and do it with my friends in my class. I had a whole bunch of people help me, so that made it a lot better, and it was just a really great feeling to help others out in that way.”

The raffle tickets were sold at $1 each, and there were 20 prizes to be won.
