A Stoughton man has a little more jingle in his pocket. Deric Reaney won $1 million on the May 6th Western MAX draw. The win was announced by the Western Canada Lottery Corporation in Regina Friday.

Reaney had purchased the winning ticket at the Stoughton Co-op C-Store. He checked the ticket the next morning while having his morning coffee. He hopped onto the computer, and didn’t believe his eyes when he saw that he had matched all seven numbers for one of the 14 $1 million prizes.

“My heart was going through my chest,” Reaney recalled while claiming his prize. “I had to get my son to also check the numbers online just to make sure!”

Reaney validated his ticket on May 12, then contacted the prize office.

Asked what he has planned for the windfall, Reaney said he has a few things in mind.

“I’d like to pay off my bills and help out my kids and step-kids,” Reaney said, adding “I’m still in disbelief.”
