The Weyburn Red Wings wrapped up their training camp yesterday by hosting the first annual Eric Calibaba Cup.

The exhibition game, formerly known as the Red and White Game, features two teams of Red Wings players facing off against each other.

The Red Team had goals from Sebastiam Hamming and Jacob Ammar, but it was the White Team who took the game with goals from Simon Pollock and Carter Wickenheiser in the first, and Ethan Clements and Braigh Legranduer in the second. Nolan Henderson closed out the scoring to lead Team White to the 5-2 victory.

The game is now named in honour of the late Eric Calibaba of Radville, who was an assistant captain for the Red Wings. He died in a car accident in 2019.

Calibaba's wife Charissa, and their daughter were on hand to present the first memorial cup to team captain Cooper Chisholm.

The Red Wings kick off official preseason action this Wednesday when they take on the MJHL's Niverville Nighthawks.
