The Rotary Club Of Weyburn will be hosting the 70th Annual Festival of Carols at Grace United Church on Sunday, December 3rd, with two separate programs at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Club President Jill Thorn said they kick off both time slots with a Christmas Carols Sing-along, and that generally the younger children perform in the afternoon.

"We have older groups in the evening, and there will be different programs, so definitely come out to both," she invited. "It does fill up for the afternoon when the children are there, so don't leave it till the last minute."

"The choirs and the choir directors put in so much time planning all their Christmas music that it's a wonderful way to start off this season and listen to some beautiful music."

Thorn said the event is free for the community to attend, but a silver collection will be available for those who wish to make a donation.

"There are some costs involved, of course, renting the church and various costs, but any of the collection that goes over and above our expenses will go to our Rotary projects," she explained. "We support local things within the Weyburn area as well as provincially and internationally."

The event was hosted by the Quota International Club of Weyburn until last year when the club dissolved. This is the second year the Rotary Club will hold the event.

"It was wonderful last year getting together and singing for the community, and it's a great way to involve our members and spouses and members that maybe don't actually belong anymore but come out to sing with us and just get involved with the community event," she shared.

"Join us to celebrate the start of another Christmas season."

She said there is still time for performers to sign up by contacting Heather Sidloski at 306-861-2837 by November 23rd.
