The U17 Hawkeye Security Wild are the Regina Minor Softball League champions. The Wild took the championship in a tournament played on the weekend.

The Wild started the tournament with a loss to the Regina Lazers Saturday morning, which dropped the team to the elimination bracket. This would mean every game for the remainder of the tournament was an elimination game for the team.

The next game for the Wild was against the Regina Royals. Weyburn would come out swinging and picked up a 14-8 win. Then, the Wild would be up against the Cupar Canucks with a berth in the semifinals on the line. They would rout the Canucks 10-3.

Sunday, the Wild again played the Regina Lazers in a rematch from the first round. The Wild would be the ones to pick up the win this time. Weyburn advanced to the finals, taking the long way, with a 9-2 win.

In the finals, the Wild were up against the Pilot Butte Storm and started things off with seven runs in the first inning. These would be all the runs needed for the win, as the pitchers took over from there, and Weyburn repeated as RMSL champions.

The Wild will now get set for the provincial championships in Regina from July 8th to 10th. From there the top two teams will go on to the Western Canadian Championships in Estevan in August.
