The U18 AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings are on home ice this weekend. They will be taking on the Regina rebels twice once Saturday evening and again Sunday afternoon.

Gold Wings Captain Julianne Girardin says they have had a great week of practice looking to bounce back from last Sunday's loss.

“I feel like we've had a pretty consistent week of practices,” Girardin said after practice Friday morning. “It's been good, like high tempo. We feel like we're ready to play this weekend; just being ready and pushing through that full 60 minutes and playing is really going to help.”

Forward Abby Manz was a member of the Rebels last season before joining the Gold Wings this year.

“I just really want to win against them,” Manz chuckled. “I don't really like playing them.”

For Girardin, being able to play at Crescent Point Place for these two key games will be an advantage.

“I mean, we practice here all week and it's kind of our home for sure, so it's definitely easier to adjust to than if we're travelling.”

While the team has had ups and downs this season, there is still a positive atmosphere, according to Manz.

“Pretty close games, like no too bad blowouts... A few here and there, but going pretty good.”

The game Saturday night goes at 7:30 at Crescent Point Place. The two teams then meet again Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM.
