Cross-country skiers of all experience levels have a unique opportunity at Little Kenosee next month.

Around 500 candles will be set up along the 3.2 kilometre ski track trail by the lake on February 18th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The trail starts near the Riding Academy.

“It happens at night, so you can ski along the trail lit up by all these wonderful candles,” Manager of visitor experience and public programming with Sask parks, Allyssa Danchak said. “It's just a really cool nighttime activity.”

Anyone interested can bring their own skis or snowshoes, or they have the option of renting skis or snowshoes at the Kenosee Inn.

“You don’t have to ski, you can also walk or snowshoe along the side of the trail, so it’s really accessible for anyone.”

There’s an opportunity to warm up at the end of the trail, as there will be fires and a warm up shelter.

Registration is not required, but those who need to rent skis or snowshoes should do so in advance.

“The activity itself is just come, enjoy from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. there’s pretty much unlimited space on the trail.”

If temperatures are forecasted at or below -26°C with the wind chill, the program will be cancelled, but 24 hours' notice will be given.
