It was a successful year for the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings, including not only making it into the first round but Tbeing the only team to defeat the Battlefords North Stars in the SJHL Playoffs.

In fact, the 2022-23 season was the first since the 2017-18 season that the Red Wings had made it to the playoffs.

"While the season did end in the first round, this was still one of the most exciting seasons of hockey the Red Wings have had in a number of years," reported the Weyburn Red Wings website, in a post sharing a video featuring Head Coach Cody Mapes and Public Relations and Office Manager Nick Nielsen. They talk about the best moments of the season and what people can look forward to in the upcoming months.

Mapes said community involvement was a highlight for the season.

“There were definitely, definitely some steps taken forward in the right direction with all aspects of the organization, with on the ice, obviously getting back into the playoffs, and you know, our community service took a big step forward again this year."

He said all the goals set at the beginning of the year with regard to community involvement came to fruition.
