The WCS Eagles football team have come up short today in the championship game against Bishop James Mahoney.

Head coach Jody Kerr shared with Discover Weyburn some details on how the game went.

“We played a back-and-forth half to start the game. Late in the 2nd quarter we drove and attempted a field goal and missed, unfortunately. BJM scored on a fake field goal just before the half to make it 7-0.”

The Eagles struggled a little bit in the second period with BJM scoring 18-0.

“The Eagles came alive at that point and put their pride on the line...driving the field in two minutes and scoring our first touchdown! Our next series with the crowd on their feet, the eagles drive again and score, adding a two-point convert to close the lead to 18-15.”

The final score ended up being 18-15 with the Eagles taking the loss. However, all in all it was a great game and something for which the team can be proud.
