While there is a lot of attention on the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles football team, they aren’t the only team from the school currently pursuing a provincial championship. This weekend is regionals weekend for volleyball, with both the Senior Boys and Senior Girls teams from WCS playing for a berth in the provincial tournaments later in the month.  

The Senior Girls will be hosting the 5A South Regionals, with four other teams coming to compete for one of the two berths in the provincial tournament. Yorkton Regional School, Estevan Comprehensive School, Swift Current Comprehensive School and Greenall School out of Balgonie will all participate.  

The round-robin tournament opens at 3:30 p.m. Friday, with Estevan playing Yorkton. The first game for Weyburn will be at 4:30 p.m. against Greenall. Weyburn then plays Swift Current at 7:30 p.m. Action resumes Saturday afternoon, with Weyburn playing Yorkton Regional at 3:00 p.m. They close the tournament with their final game at 5:00 p.m. against Estevan.  

The Senior Boys from WCS will be in Swift Current for their tournament, with the same schools competing in the Boys South Regional as the girls' tournament. 

Weyburn starts play at 4:30 p.m., taking on Estevan. They then finish up the evening Friday with a game against Swift Current. The next day, the Eagles play at 3:00 p.m. against Yorkton, and finish the tournament against Balgonie at 5:00 p.m.
