The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation is holding a major fundraiser, and there is less than a week to get tickets. They are holding a raffle for a trip to Toronto to watch a trio of Blue Jays games, and are also holding a 50/50.
Whitney Johnson is the office manager with the WDHF. She provided a full description of the prize package.
“The raffle draw is for a trip for two to Toronto, which includes airfare and hotel, plus three Blue Jays games and a signed Jordan Romano baseball,” Johnson said. “Then, on top of that, we have a 50/50 draw and you take home half of the cash.”
With the construction of the new hospital already underway, some have asked why there is still fundraising happening for the new hospital. Johnson pointed out there is still a lot to be done in terms.
“The hospital isn’t built, so we’re still raising money to cover the cost of construction and equipment that will go into it,” Johnson added. “So lots of money, millions yet to be raised, so we’ll still be working hard long after the hospital is built, even after it has been paid, to continue to raise money for equipment.”
The need for the equipment is one thing that will be ongoing. Johnson noted there are always technologies changing, and new equipment developed, and for a state-of-the-art facility, the people of Weyburn will want state-of-the-art equipment to be used in it.
Tickets for the raffle are available online. The prices are 1 for $20, 3 for $50 and 8 for $100. The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday at 11:59 p.m. The draw itself will be made at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
