Weyburn Envision Counselling and Support Centre is excited to be offering a Women's Empowerment Group starting in the New Year at the Weyburn Public Library.

The group will run for nine Monday sessions, beginning on Monday, January 23rd.

Elizabeth Lambe and Jolene Roberts are the two facilitators running the group; both are trained therapeutic counsellors with Envision Counselling and Support Centre in Weyburn.

Those who identify as female and are 18 years of age and older are welcome to join the sessions, although any women in the public can register.

"What we're hoping to help build is to help people heal from possibly some experiences in their life that they have had impact them now."

Lambe explained that historically women carry a lot of emotional load. This group is meant to help individuals discuss some sensitive topics.

"The topics that our women's empowerment group will be exploring are going to be some mature subject matter. We're going to be talking about things like building trust in self, emotional understanding, assertiveness, boundaries, how to break free from unhelpful patterns."

Lambe said that interested individuals should contact her at the Envision office to pre-register and discuss any questions they may have.

She reiterated that this is not a drop-in group and they are looking for individuals who are committed to attending all of the nine sessions.

Lambe added that all of us have a story and everyone has an experience that may have been hard and can sometimes impact us in our adult life.

This group will help to build some new skills, get some compassion with learning with their peers, and build a safe setting of everyone working together to become their best selves.

They are hoping to expand on this program and offer more diverse programming and workshops out into the community going forward.

The Women's Empowerment Group is free to join, and you can contact Elizabeth Lambe at 306-842-8821 at the Weyburn Envision office for more information.
