Weyburn & District SaskTel and TelCare members in the Weyburn area donated a total of $4,350 to two charities. SaskTel announced on Wednesday over $193,000 in TelCare donations for 2022.

The local charitable organizations selected to receive support from the local TelCare membership were the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan and the Weyburn Humane Society.

“SaskTel employees continue to demonstrate their commitment to the communities they serve through the TelCare program,” said Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “I’d like to thank all SaskTel employees for the work they do every day, and for continuing to support those in need.”

SaskTel TelCare is a volunteer organization of SaskTel employees who contribute donations through an automatic payroll deduction. SaskTel donates 50 cents for every dollar employees contribute through TelCare. Across the province this year, the program raised $128,832 that when combined with SaskTel’s commitment to match 50 per cent of each donation, has allowed it to donate a total of $193,250 to 44 charitable and non-profit organizations operating in Saskatchewan.

“We make this announcement as we commemorate a new year, but SaskTel employees are giving year-round to support non-profits in the communities where they live and work,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel President, and CEO. “TelCare is a time-honoured tradition for SaskTel and our employees, and it is an area of pride that so many employees continue to be involved with.”

There were over 600 SaskTel employees across nine districts in the province donating to the fund this past year. In the Regina district, $20,000 was donated toward the new Children’s Cancer Clinic at the Regina General Hospital. This is the first donation of a five-year pledge of $100,000. The clinic will provide care for children across southern Saskatchewan, saving them and their families the added cost of having to travel elsewhere for life-saving treatments.
