It was the fourth court appearance on April 25th, 2023, for a Weyburn man charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual assault against a female youth from January of 2023.

Held at the Weyburn Provincial Courthouse at 9:30 a.m., the Weyburn man's lawyer appeared by phone, and advised the court that his client was not present. He has a designation of council, which means that his lawyer can appear in court without him.

A publication ban was ordered by the court previously, which prevents anyone from publishing, broadcasting or sending any information that could identify the victim, witnesses, or other criminal justice system participants. Therefore, Discover Weyburn will not be releasing the names of those involved.

The Weyburn man's lawyer advised the court that defence counsel had requested more information for a resolution.

Court was adjourned to May 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at the Weyburn Provincial Courthouse for defence election.

Defence election means the accused decides whether they would prefer a trial by Judge alone, or a trial by Judge and jury, as well as whether they would prefer their matter to be heard in Provincial Court or the Court of King's Bench.
