While many in Weyburn had to make the adjustment from summer driving to winter driving last week, the Weyburn Police Service had to make the adjustment as well.

“There were some icy streets, so it caused some grief with the motorists as well as kept the police busy,” said Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype. The officers in the city were called out to a number of collisions around the city due to the weather conditions.

VanDeSype noted the severity of the collisions wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

“There were collisions that required towing, but no serious injuries resulted,” VanDeSype added.

There was one three-vehicle collision that happened last Wednesday at the intersection of Windsor Street and 1st Avenue. There were no injuries reported in that collision, but one of the vehicles did need to be towed from the scene.
