An arson case is being investigated by the Weyburn Police Service along with the help of Weyburn Fire Services, after someone threw some Molotov cocktails into a home in the early hours of October 31st.

A Molotov cocktail is a homemade incendiary device using basic materials like gasoline and a bottle, designed to explode when thrown. It is also known as a 'poor man's grenade'.

"Just after midnight on the 31st, we did have a couple of Molotov cocktails thrown at a residence," explained Police Chief Jamie Blunden. "The people that lived in that residence, they were smart thinking and were able to put it out before any severe damage could happen. We are investigating it. It is an arson, and is a criminal offence, and based on that we are looking into some leads and hopefully you can make an arrest shortly."

"In this case, there were a two or three of them that were thrown at this residence, and as such we've seized some evidence, and we're hoping to be able to catch up with the individual that had thrown those," he shared,

Blunden noted, to assure the public of their safety, that this individual is known to the two people that live in that residence

"This is an incident that we have knowledge of, who it is, and possibly the reasons why," he added.
