Weyburn Police Service made arrests this week, one a repeat offender of domestic violence, one for someone committing public indecency, and one a drunk-in-public man who jumped off of a bridge.

Police dealt with a few domestic disturbances this past week, one of which led to the arrest of a 41-year-old male for assault on two females, ages 18 and 39. Investigation revelaed the male was on multiple pre-existing probation orders. As a result, he received five breach charges, four of those were for failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior. The other one was for being in contact with the 39-year-old after consuming alcohol.

On June 24, in the middle of the night, WPS observed a gathering of people on the Government Road bridge. They noticed there had been some mischief, damage done to a City planter.

While on scene a 24-year-old male jumped off of the bridge into the water. As a result, the male sustained minor injuries. Police were able to get him out of the water. He was arrested for being drunk in public but was released without charges. Police are strongly advising against this type of activity, as it could have resulted in a more serious injury or death.

Investigation into the damaged planter continues.

On the same day, police received a report that a male with his pants down was observed in the doorway of his home. The man was exposing himself and was masturbating within plain sight of public view. Consequently, the 32-year-old male was charged under Section 173(1b) of the Criminal Code for Committing an Indecent Act.
