The Weyburn Rotary Club held an appreciation dinner at McKenna Hall to recognize healthcare workers on Thursday evening.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to staff from Mental Health & Addictions, Tatagwa View, Midtown Care Home, EMS, Eden Care Home, Weyburn Special Care Home, Weyburn General Hospital, Home Care, Public Health, Hill Top Manor, and Parkway Lodge.

Rotary Club President, Doug Loden was happy with the turnout and how the event went.

He said the he wanted to recognize healthcare workers after seeing the hostility they have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“That quite annoyed me, and I wanted to do something on the other side, and the club was behind us on that idea,” said Loden. “They work in tough conditions, and to give an evening of appreciation is a big encouragement I think.”

Loden hopes other organizations do things like this in the future, and give thanks to healthcare workers in a public way.
