For the first time in two years, the Weyburn Soccer Association was able to hold its Spring Awards Night before its Annual General Meeting.

President of the Weyburn Soccer Association, Jason Roy said this was also the first time they were able to give awards to community teams. A total of 140 awards were handed out.

“The teams that didn't travel, those players were now recognized as most improved, your Coaches Choice award, and most dedicated,” Roy said. “They got to be recognized as well as the more competitive player development teams.”

Roy added while they were lucky to be able to have their AGMs these past couple of years, they were smaller events due to the association not hosting the awards night.

“Usually it happens after the awards night, which brought a lot more volunteers out this year I feel. It definitely lost something over the last couple of years when you don't have all the kids leaving the building just as you're starting your AGM.”

Some members of the association stepped down at the meeting. Lyndsay DeWit stepped down from the registrar position, and Tyler Hillstead stepped down as technical director.

David Henderson was voted in as technical director, Dana Thiedig as registrar, and Kelly Cochrane as fields and maintenance. Members-at-large include Kellie and Troy Sidloski, Morgan Sidloski (social media), Melissa Francis (jerseys), Daniel Kelly (adult-all abilities), and Jeremy Wall.

“We have five new faces on the executive, and we're getting to know them and I would say watch our Facebook page for profiles. We will profile each of our executives just so that all our members out there know who we are.”

Registration runs until September 8th, and their fall season begins on October 11th.
