Although September is right around the corner, we are seeing hot weather throughout southeast Saskatchewan this week.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued heat warnings for much of the southeast, including here in Weyburn Wednesday morning.

Daytime highs are expected to reach the threshold of 32 C for Wednesday and Thursday, with the temperature not dropping below 16 C Wednesday night.

There is a high of 33 C on Wednesday, and could feel like 35 C with the humidex. The high for Thursday is 35 C.

There is some respite on Friday with a high of 25 C, but it will get quite hot over the weekend and into next week.

Environment Canada gave the following tips for dealing with the heat:

  • Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
  • Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
  • Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
