When the Weyburn Credit Union hosts an event, they do it in style, and it's for everyone. On June 21st, they'll hold their first ultra-public, ultra-local event since 2019.

"We haven't had a community event in over two years, and for us, as a Credit Union, that's really hard," shared Vice President of Marketing, Tana Torkelson. "We just decided, when we're coming back, we may as well come back big, and make it an event, and a real celebration for the whole community. So we hope lots of people can come out and celebrate."

"This year we've called this event the Community Reconnect and Celebrate, because it's an opportunity to get together as a community."

The 'celebrate' portion, said Torkelson, comes from the fact that during the intermission they will announce the recipients of the Community Fund grants.

"So you can come down and join us for a community barbeque, stay for a family dance featuring the Bromantics, they are so fantastic, they're really amazing, and then find out who will be receiving almost $60,000 in community fund grants, so we think it should be a really great evening."

This event will not be held indoors as it has in other years. Instead, they'll host it in the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre's outdoor rink.

"We have such a small window to enjoy our weather, so we thought it would be a really great nostalgic feel, to host it outside, and in the fresh air."

She said while everyone should bring a lawn chair to ensure seating, they will have some cocktail tables and picnic tables.

"So we will have some, but we do encourage people to bring their own 'cause we might not have enough for the whole crowd.'

Not only will there be food, music, and activities for kids After only being able to use it once, Torkelson said they'll also be bringing the Cash Cage.

"It's kind of like a old school telephone booth, but it has air that flows cash around, and we're actually going to load our cash machine with $1,000, and pick a winner that evening, and the winner has to be there of course, and they'll be able to go into the cash cage and catch as much of that of that $1,000 as they can."

The Big Community Reconnect & Celebrate Community BBQ & Family Dance Featuring the Bromantics begins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21st, ending at 9:00 p.m.
