A little boy who has captured the attention of Weyburn's hearts is about to celebrate a big milestone.

"Nolan Cornish is turning 1 year old!" said Kristin Waroma, a family friend, in an interview with Discover Weyburn. "The Weyburn Free Methodist Church has decided to put on a fundraiser for the Cornish Family and we have decided to do a birthday party for Nolan since it's his first birthday coming up on the 17th of May."

The event will run at the Free Methodist Church on May 17th from 5:30 until 8:30.

"All food and activities will be by donation, with 100% of the money going directly to the Cornish Family," said Waroma.

Nolan was born with Down Syndrome and a hole in his heart, as well as respiratory issues.

"He's been in and out of hospitals for his whole life," added Waroma. "The Cornish Family has been in Edmonton since November but were recently transferred to the hospital in Saskatoon where they are still currently residing."

The birthday party event will feature hot dogs, cupcakes, ice cream, bouncy castles, face painting and so much more.

"We encourage everyone to come out, even if you don't have kids," said Waroma. "Come join us for a hot dog and cupcake and pass on your well wishes to the Cornish Family."
