The Bantam A Knight Dodge Wings were caught up in a high scoring affair on Friday against Moose Jaw. It would be the Wings coming out on top in the road game, pulling off an 8-7 victory.

Moose Jaw opened the scoring with 12:10 left in the first period as Brendan Gerbrandt opened the scoring.

Weyburn would respond with a pair of goals of their own before the end of the period. Zach Schmidt scored with 3:45 left in the period, then Chase Dennis would score a goal of his own, assisted by Sutter Balog.

Weyburn would make it a 3-1 game early in the second period when Darien Herlick scored. His tally was assisted by Jett Grohn and Greysen Goudy. Moose Jaw was quick to reply, scoring at the 4:07 mark,

Goudy would then extend the lead to 4-2 for the Wings with 13:33 left on the clock in the middle period. Evan Barsness would then extend it to 5-2 with Goudy assisting on the goal just 34 seconds later.

With the Wings looking to run away with the game, Moose Jaw stepped up to close the gap. Erik Tittemore would score to make it a 5-3 game, but the Wings were determined to hold onto the three-goal edge. Barsness restored the lead just past the halfway mark of the period.

Before the second period would be over, though, Gerbrandt scored his second of the game for Moose Jaw. This had the teams heading to the locker room with the Wings up 6-4.

In the third period, Goudy started things off with his second goal of the game. Assisted by Grohn and Barsness, Weyburn was now up 7-4 just two minutes into the final period.

Moose Jaw replied 59 seconds later. Mac Simpson scored for Moose Jaw, making it a 7-5 game. The two-goal deficit was short-lived, though, as Dennis made it a three-goal deficit just under three minutes later. The goal was assisted by Donavin Mellon and Grohn.

Moose Jaw wasn’t finished, though. They would score 90 seconds later when Ty Pratte was able to get the puck into the net. Then, the gap was closed to just one a minute later as Lucas Salikin scored for Moose Jaw. The 8-7 score would stand, though, as the Wings would hold on for the victory.

The Bantam Knight Dodge Wings are now off from league action for a bit. They will resume league play on December 22nd, when they welcome the Regina Shamrocks to Crescent Point Place.
