The Bantam AA Whitecap Resources Wings headed out on the road Sunday, and returned to Weyburn with two points, as they beat the Saskatoon Generals 5-2. The win helped lift the Wings to a tie for third place in the South Division of the SAAHL. They are deadlocked with Prairie Storm, each team with 26 points on the season.

The Wings started the game with a goal from Van Eger 6:54 into the opening period. His tally was assisted by Quinn Mantei and Cooper Walbaum. It was followed up with a goal from Matt Morhart just 41 seconds later, making it 2-0. Morhart’s goal was assisted by Ryker Watt.

The Generals would reply before the halfway mark of the period when Joshua Zakreski scored on Weyburn goalie Dylan Ernst. The Generals would then tie things up on the power play with 8:36 remaining in the opening period, thanks to a power-play goal from Mason Bueckert.

The Wings would regain the lead in the second period. Eger scored his second of the afternoon at the 11:00 mark of the middle frame. His goal was assisted by Walbaum and Ty Mason.

In the third period, the Wings added to the lead. Daxin Peterson scored just over four minutes into the third, making it 4-2. His goal was assisted by Watt. Wyatt LaCoste then added an insurance marker with 3:03 remaining, assisted by Mantei and Dallen Oxelgren.

There could be some supplementary discipline handed down by the league, however. At the conclusion of the game, four players from the Generals, and three from the Wings were handed 10-minute misconducts.

The Wings are now off until Sunday. They will host the Melville Millionaires at Crescent Point Place.
