(photo courtesy Dawn Gutzke)The Bantam AA Whitecap Resource Wings opened the playoffs Wednesday night in Swift Current. It was game one of their best-of-three SAAHL playoff game.

It would be the Broncos who came out on top, though, as they skated to a 4-3 victory.

The Wings opened the scoring early in the game when Van Eger scored his first of the postseason. He was assisted on the goal, which came just 2:35 into the opening frame, by Cooper Walbaum.

The Broncos replied with a goal of their own with 6:02 left on the lock, as Rowan Priebe beat Dylan Ernst. Swift Current then took the lead with a power-play goal with 1:40 left on the clock in the first to make it 2-1.

Ty Boren would then tie the game up just 17 seconds later, as he notched his first of the playoffs. He was assisted on the goal by Daxin Peterson.

The Wings took the lead back with a power-play goal of their own in the second period. Ty Mason scored 4:49 into the middle period, assisted by Ryker Watt and Boren.

Before the period was over, the Broncos evened things up once again, as Rhett Dekowny scored for the home side with 4:08 left on the clock.

The game entered the third period knotted 3-3, but it would be Swift Current who scored the go-ahead goal, as Priebe scored his second of the night to make it 4-3.

The series will come to Weyburn for game two Saturday. It will be played at 1:45 p.m. at Crescent Point Place. Game three will be played in Swift Current on Sunday.
