The Weyburn Beavers were looking to bounce back from a rough outing when they took the field in Regina Wednesday night. With the bats coming alive, the Beavers scored in six of the nine innings on their way to a 12-4 rout of the Red Sox. They were led by the bat of Luis Jimenez, who had three doubles in the game. Ulysses Fluellen driove in three runs himself en route to the victory. The win put the Beavers back to .500 for the season, with a record of 8-8.

The Beavers jumped out ot an early lead in the game, when Brady Nygaard drove in Luis Jimenez in the first inning. The lead was short lived, as the Red Sox replied in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own. Weyburn were quick to get back on the scoreboard.

Brett Young drove in Evan Weidner with a double to center. After Jimenez  was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Fluellen smacked a single to right, bringing in two runs. Jimenez, trying to make it to third on the play, was put out at third, ending the inning.

Regina came back with a Nolan Ard homerun to left field that clanked off the foul pole. The tie game would hold for the next two innings, and then the Beavers would open up offensively.

It started in the fifth with a RBI single by Fluellen, cashing in Jimenez, who had reached base with a double. Red Sox pitcher Will Moore would then load up the bases with a combination of walks, and hit batters. Neil Ring then came up to the plate with two out, and hit a single to right, bringing home Fluellen and Nygaard.

In the sixth inning, Weyburn added one more run, with Cam Williams hitting an RBI single to center. One more run came home during the seventh, when Jimenez hit his third double of the game, scoring Young. Weyburn added two more in the eighth with runs driven in by Wade Weinburger, and Young.

On the mound, Sloan Dieter had the start for Weyburn, pitching four innings, striking out one, and giving up four earned runs. Connor Starke came on in relief, and tossed four scoreless innings, striking out two. It was closed out by Eric Evans in the ninth.

The Beavers will now get ready for the next game Thursday night, when they travel to Swift Current to take on the 57’s.
