A tough loss for the Weyburn Beavers Monday night, as they fell 7-6 to the Okotoks Dawgs. The Beavers had a commanding 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth before Okotoks rallied to score four runs for the walk-off victory.

The Dawgs were the first to get on the board when they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Those would be the only runs given up by Beavers starting pitcher Garrett Waters, who wouldn’t get the decision in his fifth start of the season. He struck out four over seven innings of work, with just one earned run given up.

Starting in the sixth inning, the Beavers came alive, with Ulysses Fluellen hitting his second home run of the campaign. Weyburn would score six runs over the final four innings to build up their lead.

In the bottom of the ninth, though, Okotoks would rally back. With two outs, they managed to get the best of closer Lane Fazende and scored the four runs needed for the walk-off win.

The two teams play again Tuesday night in Okotoks as the Beavers close out the annual Alberta road trip.
