The bats of the Weyburn Beavers were held off by Swift Current pitcher Mitch Guiberson Thursday night, as the 57’s tied up the best-of-five WMBL East Division Final at two with an 11-1 win.

Swift Current got on the board in the first inning, when Blake Adams hit his first home run of the post season off Beavers starter Connor DiNaro. Swift Current added two more runs in the third when Weyburn got on the board.

Zach Frazier started the inning off with a double to center field. He was then brought home by Luis Jimenez. Within two, the home crowd gained energy, but the 57’s looked to snuff out the optimism.

Swift Current added runs in the fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings. Meanwhile, Guiberson continued to pitch strong, going into the eighth inning before giving way to Try Taylor for the ninth.

DiNaro lasted 6 ⅔ innings for the Beavers, allowing seven runs, four earned. He struck out four and walked one. Connor Starke, Landon Mostellar, and Austin Gurr pitched in relief for Weyburn.

The series returns to Swift Current for game five Friday night. The winner will advance to the WMBL championship series, where they will take on the Edmonton Prospects. Edmonton won their WMBL West Division final in four games over the Medicine Hat Mavericks.
