The Weyburn Beavers haven’t had much time to acquaint themselves with Tom Laing Field so far this season, with the first week of the schedule seeing them play six road games in eight days. Tonight, they will get the chance to play in front of their hometown fans for the first time in 2017, bringing a 4-2 record with them.

The Beavers are coming off a 6-1 win over the Yorkton Cardinals Wednesday night, where they scored five runs in the top of the ninth to secure the win. When the Moose Jaw Miller Express come to town tonight, they will be looking to improve their record against the Express to 2-0 on the season. The previous meeting between the two was an 8-6 win for the Beavers, with the game going 11 innings.

The Beavers have been led offensively by Evan Weidner, and Carlos Flores, who have both been batting .360 on the season. The two are also tied with Cam Williams for five RBI early in the campaign.

On the mound, Austin Gurr has been the top starter for the year, with two starts, and only two earned runs over 12 ⅔ innings pitched. Garrett Waters is another starter who has excelled earlier in the season, with one win in one start, and six strikeouts. Beau Rabedeaux and Cody Pamperin have been strong in relief, with neither giving up a run in 4 ⅓ innings, with Pamperin tossing six strikeouts.

Tonight, Conner DiNaro is expected to get the start for the Beavers. It will be his first appearance for the team, but he comes to Weyburn with an impressive resume. He had six wins on the season, and in games where he pitched, his team (Mayville State Comets) outscored its opponents 99-42.

Game time tonight is at 7:05 p.m. at Tom Laing Park. Prior to the game, the first pitch will be thrown out by Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy. Roy will also be presenting the players on the Beavers rosters certificates making them honorary citizens of Weyburn.
