The season is over for the Midale Mustangs.

They fell 4-2 Tuesday night to the Carnduff Red Devils, giving the Red Devils a 3-0 win in the best-of-five quarterfinal series.

The Mustangs were the first on the board, as the crashed out of the gate with a goal just 38 seconds into the first period. Tyler Hoium found the back of the net, assisted by Josh Gustafson.

It wouldn’t be until the second period the Red Devils found the scoreboard on home ice. At the 5:44 mark of the frame, Cody Moore scored on the power play. The tally was assisted by Brandon Trask. Just over two minutes later, Sean Mulcahy gave Carnduff the lead with his even-strength goal. It was assisted by captain Kody Martin.

It became a two-goal lead with 8:26 remaining in the second when Sheldon Thompson scored for Carnduff. He was assisted on the goal by Nico Anderson and Martin.

The Mustangs pulled within one early in the third period. Taylor Vandesype scored an unassisted goal at the 4:34 mark of the period. Despite all the pressure they could muster, though, Midale was unable to pull even in the game.

Nico Anderson added an unassisted insurance marker for the Red Devils with just 1:19 left in the period.

The Red Devils now wait to see who their semi-final opponent will be. If the Redvers Rockets get past the Wawota Flyers, the two teams will meet in the next round. If the Flyers win, though, Carnduff takes on the winner of the series between Carlyle and Bienfait.
