Busy Weekend Ahead For Weyburn Hockey

With the Christmas break fast approaching for hockey teams from Weyburn and area, this weekend is even busier than the past weekend in terms of games. From Atom to Senior, there are more than 50 games on tap, here in Weyburn, in the surrounding communities, and at tournaments. Here is a look at some of the games on the schedule.

Friday

Action starts for the Atom DQ Blizzards Friday afternoon as they head to Sidney, Montana for a tournament. They will be playing there for the full weekend.

There will be some Pee Wee action this evening in the SEMHL. The Yellow Grass Wheat Kings are playing host to the Weyburn RP Automotive Wings at 6:00 p.m.

The Bantam B Prairie Sky Co-op Wings will be on home ice tonight. They entertain the Caronport Cougars. The game begins at 7:45 p.m. in the Tom Zandee Sports Arena.

Saturday

The Tom Zandee Sports Arena will be busy throughout the day Saturday. It starts with Weyburn AtoMc Blue hosting Crosby at 12:00 p.m. Later in the day, Weyburn AtoMc Black takes on the Estevan Bruins, starting at 5:00 p.m.

A road trip for Weyburn AtoMc Red. They are off to Rosetown for a pair of games against the Western Prairie Red Wings. The first game is at 10:15 a.m. The second game is at 3:00 p.m.

The Pee Wee AA Youngfellow Wings with an early game on Saturday. They host the Swift Current Broncos at 11:45 a.m. at Crescent Point Place.

There will be a Pee Wee battle of Weyburn at CPP later that day, as the Kinsmen Wings take on the Legion Wings starting at 2:15 p.m. The other Weyburn team in the SEMHL, the RP Automotive Wings, will host the Estevan Thunder in the Sports Arena at 7:15 p.m.

The Bantam AA Whitecap Resources Wings are on the road to Yorkton. They will be playing the Terriers at Farrell Agencies Arena at 5:00 p.m.

The Midget A TS & M Gold Wings are on the road this weekend, as are the Midget AA Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings. The TS & M Gold Wings are off to Gull Lake to take on the Southwest Cyclones with a puck drop at 5:45 p.m. The Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings are in Swift Current. Their game starts at 5:30 p.m.

The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings are also on the road to Yorkton. They take on the midget Terriers after the Bantam AA game wraps up, starting at 8:00 p.m.

The Midget AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings will start a home and home against the Notre Dame Hounds Saturday afternoon. The puck drops on the game at 2:00 p.m.

Sunday

The day starts early, with AtoMc Blue hosting the Estevan Warriors at 10:45 a.m in the Sports Arena. There is just one other league game for an Atom team on Sunday, as AtoMc Red follows up their trip to Rosetown with a game in Estevan against the Bearcats at 4:15 p.m.

The Pee Wee Canadian Tire Angels are on the road Sunday afternoon. They travel up to Ochapowace to take on the Thunder starting at 2:30 p.m.

All three of the Weyburn Pee Wee teams in the SEMHL will be on the ice. The Legion Wings travel to Radville to take on the Nationals at 3:00 p.m., while the Kinsmen Wings play the Flyers in Milestone at 4:15 p.m. The RP Automotive Wings will be the lone team on home ice as they host the Midale Mustangs in the Sports Arena at 7:00 p.m.

The Bantam AA Whitecap Resource Wings will be at home Sunday. They host the Pat Blues at Crescent Point Place. The game starts at 3:45 p.m.

The Barber Motors Silverado Wings will look to pick up a win at home, as they host the Estevan Bears in midget action Sunday evening. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. at Crescent Point Place.

The road trip continues Sunday for the Midget A TS & M Wings. They once again take on the Southwest Cyclones in Gull Lake. This time, the puck drops at 2:15 p.m.

The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings finish off their trip to the Parkland region, with their second game of the weekend. They once again take on the Yorkton Terriers. The game starts at 4:00 p.m.

As for the Midget AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings, they take on the Notre Dame Hounds at Crescent Point Place to close out their home and home. The game starts at 1:00 p.m.
