Lacrosse

A fairly quiet weekend for the various lacrosse teams in Weyburn, with only one team seeing any action on the court.

The Midget Thrashers open a busy weekend Friday night when they travel up to Regina to take on Standing Buffalo. It’s followed up by a game in Estevan Saturday afternoon against the Thunder. They have Sunday off, before a home game Monday when Standing Buffalo comes to Crescent Point Place.

Baseball

Diamonds will be busy in Weyburn, and across the province this weekend. While there isn’t any game action on the schedule for Friday night, there is plenty for Saturday and Sunday.

The Midget AAA Twins host the Saskatoon Giants Saturday at Lynn Prime Field in Estevan for a double header. The games start at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, the Twins then hit the road, traveling to Muenster for a pair of games. Those begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Bantam AAA Beavers have a double header at Jubilee Park Saturday. The Regina Pacers are in town. Those games start at 1:00 p.m. as well.

The Pee Wee AA Beavers will also be busy, as they hold a bottle drive Saturday afternoon. Sunday, they host Swift Current for a doubleheader at Jubilee Park.

Soccer

The U14 Junior Red Devils head up to Saskatoon for their first tournament of the season this weekend. They start things off against the Lakewood Lightning at 6:15 Friday night. Saturday, they play the Lakewood Storm at 11:30 a.m., then the Aurora Horizon at 5:45 p.m.

Badminton

Weyburn Comprehensive School is the scene of the provincial badminton championships this weekend. It all kicks off Saturday morning.

In the boys doubles competition, Weyburn is represented by Travis Friedrick and Curtis Regnier.
