Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet has his work cut out for him, as he gets ready for the second round of The Player’s Championship. He wrapped up Thursday with a two-over 74 and tied for 83rd. He was seven strokes back of the leaders, and one below the projected cut line of +1.

The day started out well for DeLaet, with a birdie on his second hole of the day. From there, it began to go downhill, as he hit three consecutive bogies. On the ninth, he managed to recover a little, with a birdie on the par-5 hole.

After making the turn, DeLaet began to pull himself back up the leaderboard, with birdies on 12 and 13. On the 13th hole, he found himself just two feet from an ace on the par-3 hole. He would run into bogey trouble again, though, and wound up back at even through 14.

On the infamous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, he went long on his first shot, to allow for more space, with the pin located precariously close to the front of the green, just feet from the water. The distance would prove to be too much, though, and he would end up recording a bogey on the hole.

He closed out the round with one more bogey, putting him at +2 through 18 holes.

DeLaet will be back on the course Friday afternoon, teeing off on the back nine. He will be playing in a group with Ben Crane and Grayson Murray. They are the last trio to take the course.
