It was an electric night at the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles Gym Wednesday night. It was the first round of the annual Co-op Series Challenge. The event, sponsored by the Southern Plains Co-op and the Prarie Sky Co-op. Jerry Ponto from Praire Sky Co-op was there present. The Eagle mascots were tons of fun, entertaining the crowd the entire night. Results below!

The game started up with the Senior boys' team. The Weyburn Eagles opened the scoring, but home court nerves caught up as they trailed early. Estevan got on a roll and won the first set 25-10. In the second set, Jacob Butz smashed it down to open the scoring. A great up by Blake Anderson set up some great plays. Estevan was tough with some big hits by Van Achte and McGeough. Estevan edged them out 25-18 after some great rallies by the boys. In the third set now, Estevan opened with some big blocks. The Elecs set themselves up for the win with a big smash to win 25-16. The boys will no doubt come back next Monday in Estevan.

The senior girls were on a hot streak, entertaining the home-crowd fans, demolishing Estevan in the first set 25-6 with Olivia Michel serving 12 straight points. The girls continued to play great, but let Estevan come back and they found themselves in a close rally with the Elecs. The girls pulled through with a 25-18 win in the second. To the third set now. Estevan made themselves a force in the third with some great blocks. For the first time in the night, the Elecs pulled ahead. Megan Schmidt came full force with some great serves to bring them back in it. Chandler Dickie closed the night with a fire smash to claim victory 25-17.

The series is tied 3-3 and returns to Estevan next Monday where the Eagles will soar to victory.
