A solid effort put forth by the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings last night, but they came up short in a 5–2 loss to the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Gold Wings knocked off the Hounds back on December 15 and hung with the fifth-place team through 40 minutes. Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead, but goals from Mia Chretien and Sierra Meroniuk had the Gold Wings trailing just 4–2 after two periods.

The shots were just 18–17 in favour of the Hounds. Weyburn got into some penalty trouble in the third period and the Hounds put their foot on the gas pedal. They fired 16 shots at Gold Wings netminder Amara Lewendon, who stopped all but one. She made 29 saves in total on the night.

A late powerplay goal was the final nail in the coffin on this night and dropped the Wings to 1–3 on the season versus Notre Dame.

Payton Mabee chipped in with two assists on the night, to give her a team-leading 12 points on the season. Kierson Hennes added a helper on the Meroniuk goal as well.

The Gold Wings will now gear up for a weekend series with the Prince Albert Northern Bears on home ice. Puck drop goes at 7:30 on Friday night and 1:00 on Saturday afternoon for a matinee.
