It was a tough weekend for the Midget AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings. They were in North Battleford for a pair of games against the Sharks and came away with losses in both.

Saturday, the Battlefords won 7-2. The Battlefords took advantage of the special teams with three power-play goals.

Weyburn’s first goal of the game came late in the first period. Sierra Meroniuk scored her second of the season, assisted by Kierson Hennes.

Hennes would get a goal of her own early in the third period. The power play marker was assisted by Kaitlyn Harrison.

Sunday afternoon, the game was a closer affair, with the Sharks winning 3-2.

The Battlefords jumped out to an early lead but the Gold Wings pressed back. Jayden Lindholm would tie things up with just over five minutes to go in the period. The assist went to Katelyn Blair.

The Sharks regained the lead in the second when Maya Tupper scored twice. The Gold Wings rallied, though, and picked up a power-play goal at the 15:51 mark of the frame. Janna Kiesig scored, with Katelyn Blair being credited with the assist.

Despite putting 11 shots on goal in the third, the Gold Wings weren’t able to get the game-tying goal.
