Weyburn’s Darien Herlick continues to turn heads on golf courses not only in Saskatchewan but across the country. The 12-year-old just wrapped up the Maple Leaf Junior Tour stop in Bragg Creek, Alberta, where he won the Pee Wee Division and had some of the best scores amongst the entire field, which sees players from Pee Wee ages all the way up to the Collegiate level. With the win, Herlick picked up 300 Order of Merit points. He is now not only the top-ranked Pee Wee golfer in Saskatchewan but is also the top-ranked Pee Wee golfer in all of Canada.

On Tuesday, Herlick fired a 3-under 69 in the first round. On the front nine, his only blips were a triple bogey on the first hole and a bogey on the ninth hole. He followed it up with an eagle on 11, finished the day with a total of six birdies and one eagle. The 69 was the lowest scored registered for the day amongst all the golfers on the course, across all age groups.

Round two was a little rougher for Herlick. He finished the day shooting a 10-over 82. Despite the stumbles he encountered, he still finished the round with three birdies and ended the tournament with a six-stroke lead for first.
