The Southeast Midget AA Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings were in Calgary for the Wickenheiser World Female Hockey Tournament, taking on some of the best talent from across western Canada on the weekend. The Gold Wings could come out of the tournament with a record of 2-2, good for third in the tournament.

Play for the Gold Wings started Friday morning, as they took on the Surrey Falcons. It would be the Gold Wings who came out firing, building off an early lead to pick up a 4-2 win. The Gold Wings had goals from Marci Leblanc, Jenna Currie, Khloe Bedore and Kiera Pittman. Taryn McKinney allowed just two goals to pick up the win.

The second game of the tournament had the Gold Wings up against a strong team in the St. Albert Sharks. The Gold Wings drew first blood in the water, but the Sharks rallied and picked up a 4-2 win. The Gold Wings had goals in the game from Kaycee Mullinger and Jordon Meyers.

The third game of the tournament, on Saturday, had the Gold Wings up against the GHC Fire out of Calgary. The Fire held a 1-0 lead into the third, before they opened up, and beat the Gold Wings by a final of 4-1 thanks to three goals in the third. Mullinger had the lone goal for the Gold Wings.

The final game of the tournament was Sunday morning. The Gold Wings were taking on the Edmonton Pandas.

The two teams were back and forth through the first two periods, ultimately tied 3-3 after 40 minutes. The Gold Wings would then open up in the third with two power-play goals lifting them to a 6-4 victory. Bedore and Leblanc had two goals each, while Bailey Farr and Mullinger scored the other two goals.

The next game for the Midget AA Gold Wings will be Saturday when the Gold Wings host the Parkland Fire in Midale.
